For more than 20 years, Madison Parks has honored Earth Day by recruiting volunteers for the Earth Day Challenge. Each April, volunteers assist in sprucing up parks throughout the city, getting them ready for the busy summer season. The exception in 2020 when this event, along with all other events, was canceled due to the pandemic.

We are happy to announce, following the latest guidance from Public Health Madison & Dane County, the Earth Day Challenge for 2021 is set and we hope you’ll join us on Saturday, April 24. Advanced registration is required and may be done online or by calling (608)266-4711. We are recruiting more than 650 volunteers in 45+ parks from 10:00am to 12:00pm.  Each location is provided gloves and trash bags. The focus this year is mainly trash and debris pick-up. However, if you are interested in leading volunteers in a larger project, please inquire, to learn more.

Individuals and small groups are welcome to register. All volunteers must wear a mask and practice social distancing with anyone outside of your household.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: 11:59pm on Wednesday, April 21.

For other volunteer projects, see Dog Park Cleanup Day and Current Projects.
