The winter of 2007-2008 has gone down in the record books as the snowiest winter in history. That much snow made for a wonderful cross-country skiing season. However, the above freezing temperatures, and predicted rain this week will bring that season to a close.

The lights at Elver Park will be turned off starting Thursday, March 13. The ski rentals at Elver and Odana Golf Course are finished.

The snowy winter inspired many people to take advantage of Madison's excellent ski trails system. For the 2007-2008 winter, annual pass sales were 1372, up from last winter's sales of 974; daily pass sales were 932, up from 731.

Ice Rinks
Staff reminds the public to stay off the ice. The ice is thin and is dangerous. The Tenney and Vilas Park lagoon depths reach up to 10 feet.
