When will it stop? Here we are again with another shooting of an unarmed Black man in Kenosha, Wisconsin in the presence of his children. Legal or not, we deplore the killing of unarmed Black men in Wisconsin and across the United States.

The act of the Kenosha officers to shoot a Black man in the back multiple times is totally unacceptable. The systems in place enable these actions and allow law enforcement in some cases to walk away and declare justified action.

We call on all law enforcement officers across Wisconsin and the nation to dig deep and see the humanity in themselves and in others. Change will only come from within; we can ask, make policies, enact laws, but it is within the institutions to make the commitment to change.

We implore residents to take more decisive and meaningful actions, like voting, to hold elected officials accountable for laws which serve to protect those who choose to abuse their power.

Let us stand together to make changes, it is up to us to change our world to protect the lives of innocent people and end the use of excessive force in our community.
