Experience snowshoeing in a whole new light this season with a Candlelight Snowshoe! This collaborative event will feature a one mile snowshoe trail lighted by over 200 candles and luminaries.
 
The Candlelight Snowshoe will be held on Saturday, January 18 from 5 to 7PM. The event is free and perfect for the whole family to enjoy, even if you’ve never been snowshoeing before.
 
During the Candlelight Snowshoe Event, Aldo Leopold Nature Center, 300 Femrite Drive, Monona, WI will be open as a warming shelter and has bathrooms.  A camp fire will be available for participants to warm up outside. The trail winds through the Edna Taylor Conservation Park, Monona’s Woodland Park, and the Aldo Leopold Nature Center with trail entrances at each location.
 
Participants are encouraged to bring their own snowshoes, but there will be a limited number of snowshoes available to use.  Snowshoes are made available by REI, Monona Parks, Madison Parks, and Aldo Leopold Nature Center.
 
All ages and experience levels are invited to attend. Please, no pets, skiing or sleds allowed. 
 
Please remember that this event is weather dependent. If there is no snow, the Candlelight Snowshoe will be held as a Candlelight Hike. If there is inclement weather, this event may be canceled. Please check our Facebook or Twitter pages for any cancellation information.
