Arrival:
Saturday, May 2, 2015 - 3:25pm
Address:
3600 block Ice Age Dr/Snowflake Ct
Madison, WI
Narrative:

Engine 7 was dispatched for a fire in the woods behind a house in the 3600 block of Ice Age Drive. En route, E7 was advised by 911 that the caller said the area was growing rapidly and E7 requested that Brush 1 respond from Station 12. On arrival, E7 found about a 1.5 acre area on fire in a wooded area behind Ice Age Ridge Park - near the bike trail. E7 crew walked in with water packs and tools to contain fire on the east side - bottom of the hill. Brush 1 responded on the bike path and worked on the fire from the top of the hill. The remainder of E12's crew was requested for manpower due to the large number of hot spots in the woods. None of the bystanders witnessed any activity in that area. One neighbor stated that they saw smoke in that area a couple of hours before E7's arrival and thought it was a controlled burn - as there had been one in that area the previous week. Crews charged the hydrant on Ice Age Trail to refill Brush 1 and E7. 911 was asked to notify water utilities of this. E7, E12 and Brush 1 were restocked and returned to service.
