Address:
1600 blk Rowland Ave

Narrative:

Ladder 8 was dispatched for a report of a back porch on fire. Upon arrival, L8 found that a charcoal grill sitting on the back porch had been extinguished, and there was an empty gas can sitting in the yard, with a very strong smell of gas. A resident at the scene said she was watching her 12-year-old son and another neighbor boy, aged 11. They had started a charcoal grill to cook a steak. The other boy tried to make the fire bigger by putting gas on the already lit grill. In doing so there was a explosion, and both boys sustained 2nd and 3rd degree burns. Both boys were transported to UW Hospital.
