Address:
900 block of Williamson St.
Madison, WI
Narrative:

An east side resident went out to run a quick errand when he came home to find firefighters at his home.

While he was away, the Madison Fire Department was called for a smoke alarm sounding inside the residence. When Engine 3 arrived, they made entry to the apartment and were met with a haze of smoke in the kitchen. The crew found “a pot of green peas reduced to charcoal” on one of the burners.

Firefighters turned off the appliance and removed all items that had been left on the stovetop. They began ventilating the kitchen and dining area as the resident returned to the apartment.
