The spectacular landscape of southern Utah contains the largest network of undesignated wilderness quality lands remaining in the lower 48 states as well as the largest concentration of Native American cultural sites in the entire country. These national treasurers are under threat from oil, gas, and tar sands extraction as well as an ideology that opposes conservation and even the existence of U.S. public lands. Our efforts to protect them are the only national wide conservation effort outside of Alaska. Many folks in Wisconsin, including elected officials such as Sen. Baldwin and Rep. Pocan, are supporting the effort.

The program includes a 15minute DVD narrated by Robert Redford which provides a tour of the special places in the protection proposal as well as an overview of the history of the protection effort. Our presenter, Clayton Daughenbaugh is the Midwest staff person for the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance.
