Celebrate International Migratory Bird Day and Madison’s fantastic urban nature recreation and habitat preserves at Olin-Turville and other south side parks and nature centers within easy biking and driving distance.  Come for a Bird and Nature Walk at 10 and make it a day. Schools, families and kids are encouraged to create fun costumes and join in the Bird Puppet and Critter Parade at 11 am at Olin Pavilion. Bring kids bird art and nature projects to show at free display tables and nature poems and writings to read at the event.  Enjoy fascinating presentations about Why Birds Matter, How Birds Work, Where Birds Live and What Bird Lovers Do.  There will be hands-on educational displays, partner information tables, music, kids’ activities, bird and nature walks, native plant sales, bird art, and a scavenger hunt at Olin Turville and other south side parks and nature centers along the Monona-Wingra eco-corridor and connecting bike paths from Aldo Leopold Nature Center to 9 Springs Natural Area and the Arboretum.  This year we will also welcome Monona to Bird City.  All events are free except some activities at nature centers may have a small fee.  Contact event coordinator Paul Noeldner at paul_noeldner@hotmail.com, (608) 698-0104 for more information about the event and participating.
