LakeFrontRow Cinema presents The Films of Phantom Moth Productions
LakeFrontRow.com presents films from Madison's Nicolas Alexander
and Phantom Moth Productions. Over the past two years, writer-director Nicolas
Alexander has gathered local, multi-talented artists for his guerrilla production troupe
including cinematographer Evan Parquette and hip-hop musician/actor Carlos Christian.
Alexander's early work in "Keep Movin'" and "Runnin'" situate biographical elements
from Christian's life inside of pulp crime fiction stories. "The Harbor," which took
home awards for acting and cinematography and won runner-up for "Best Film" at
this year's 48 Hour Film Festival, combines a disabled man's charming love story with
grounded science-fiction. "The Armed Robbery on 44th Street" toys with perspective
as its criminals in hiding recall the details of a heist gone wrong. The films of Phantom
Moth Productions can be aggressive and swift in their retribution, but even the darkest
stories are not without a pathos and beauty, often conveyed through Parquette's gorgeous
cinematography. Nicolas Alexander and Carlos Christian will both attend the screening
for a Q&A.
