Food Forests with Emily Steinwehe ~ Enjoy an easy family friendly nature hike with plant expert Emily Steinwehe at Turville Point Conservation Park. Emily will tell you about Food Forests - woodland places that birds, bugs, and other animals forage for food - as you explore this historic oak woodlands where Native Americans came by canoe to pick berries and nuts. Please note that Turville and other Conservation Parks are protected areas where consumption is not permitted, but Food Forests are taking off in some other parks and natural areas where some compatible food foraging by people may be permitted as well as helping provide more areas for wildlife foraging. 

Follow rolling hiking paths through the Turville Point woodlands and prairie with beautiful vistas of Lake Monona and Monona Bay. Walks at Turville Point held on the 2nd Sunday every month are co-sponsored by Madison Bird City FUN partners, Madison Parks, Friends of Olin Turville and Madison Audubon Society. Meet at the Turville Point parking lot, the entrance at the E. Olin Ave. stoplight from John Nolen Drive at the railroad tracks, south of Olin Park (not at the boat launch). No registration required. No pets are allowed.
