The Madison Water Utility will make a public presentation of its draft long-range capital improvement program and will hold a public hearing on this subject Thursday, June 4, at 6 p.m. in the main conference room at the utility's administrative building, 119 E. Olin Avenue.

The capital budget forecasts projects from the year 2010 through 2015 to replace and upgrade critical infrastructure; improve fire protection reliability; ensure adequate water supply, water pressure, and water quality; and upgrade an aging and cramped operations building.

At the hearing, water utility staff will explain the capital budgeting process and take public comments. The proposed budget will be presented to the Water Utility Board at its meeting on June 23 prior to submission to the City Comptroller's office for inclusion in the Mayor's 2010 capital budget. The draft budget is available on the water utility website, www.madisonwater.org.
