Madison Water Utility wishes our Mad City Tappers and "Meter Madness" competitors good luck as they represent Wisconsin at the American Water Works Association (AWWA) conference in Denver next week.

Our Mad-City Tappers will take on teams from across the country in a high-energy contest to see who can tap a small copper line into a live, gushing iron water main the fastest.

What does a high-speed tapping look like? Check out video of our Mad City Tappers working hard at a demonstration in April:

Our Kara Jafferis will also be heading to Denver to represent Wisconsin in the AWWA's Meter Madness competition. Kara is the first women ever to win the state Meter Madness contest and is one of only two women competing in Denver. Kara can assemble a working water meter from a bucket of parts in less than 60 seconds!

AWWA's operator contests give water utility employees from across the country a chance to showcase their skills before their peers and the public. Madison Water Utility is proud of the professionalism, know-how and team work our employees demonstrate every time they enter a competition - win or lose. We're confident they'll be great ambassadors in Denver!
