9/30/2021 Update:

This project is complete.

Project Overview

Following the sanitary sewer replacement work on Gorham St. in 2020, the City is planning to resurface the Gorham Street pavement in 2021. In most locations, this will involve a mill and overlay of the pavement surface and replacement of the pavement markings.  The City is also proposing to install several bump-outs at pedestrian crossings; the proposed locations for the bump-outs are at the Hamilton/Hancock intersection, Franklin, the west side at Blount, and on the west side at Livingston. A new rectangular rapid flashing beacon is also planned for the Blair St. crossing, and a continental crosswalk is planned for the easterly side of the non-signalized intersections. The project also includes adding a bike lane on the blocks between Brearly Street and Baldwin Street, which currently do not have a bike lane; parking pull-out areas are also planned for these blocks in order to maintain some of the on-street parking in this area.  The project also includes modifications near the Baldwin St. intersection to provide an ADA compliant bus boarding area and extending the wide sidewalk through intersection to connect to the proposed on-street bike lane.
