Hoofbeat Ridge Camps has been family owned and operated since 1962. It sits in the gently rolling countryside of south - central Wisconsin and is about 25 miles west of Madison. Campers enjoy trail rides through our 250 acres of beautiful birch forests, oak and hickory groves, and deep valleys.One indoor and four outdoor riding rings, an athletic field, and miles of trails compliment the facilities at Hoofbeat Ridge.
We offer a Day Camp program for boys ages 7 to 9 and girls ages 7 - 12. Day Camp runs Monday to Friday with bus transportation from 4 locations. Activities include horseback riding, crafts, nature, drama, sports, and theme weeks.
We also offer Resident Camp for girls ages 8 - 15. Campers are grouped according to age and length of stay in our modern bunkhouses. Bathroom and shower facilities are located in each building.
Morning activities are divided into three skill sessions which include horseback riding lessons (English or Western), horse care, and other activities which may include arts and crafts, drama, outdoor adventure, and sports.
The afternoon may include a variety of activities, one of which will be a riding session such as a trail ride, mounted games, bareback riding, etc. Other sessions may be horse bathing, drill team movements, rodeo, or cabin projects.
After dinner, campers may have the opportunity to go on a hay ride, have a campfire, or participate in camp games or cabin activities.
Our staff are hired throughout the United States and often from foreign countries. About half are former campers who have completed various training programs at Hoofbeat. The camper to staff ratio is 1 to 4.
We also offer off-season programs such as Horse Lover's Days, Mother/Daughter Weekends, Horse Lover's Weekends, Christmas Camp, Girl Scout & Boy Scout programs, birthday parties, and retreats.
