The City of Madison is proposing to install path lighting along the Southwest Path in 2013. The project will not include any assessments to adjacent property owners. A joint public hearing of the Pedestrian/Bicycle/Motor Vehicle Commission (PBMVC) and the Board of Public Works will be held Wednesday, November 28th at 7:00 p.m. in Room 201 of the City County Building, located at 210 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. City staff will make a short presentation at the meeting, followed by the public hearing.

The proposed limits of the project are on the Southwest Path from the Beltline Highway to Breese Terrace. The proposed project involves installing 20-foot tall black anodized poles with LED light fixtures similar to the test fixtures the City currently has in place at the path intersection with Council Crest. The project is scheduled to start in the spring of 2013.

Written comments will be accepted up to the start of the public hearing, and can be submitted to staff for distribution to commission and board members. Submit comments to PBMVC members at: stolley@cityofmadison.com or via U.S. mail to: City Traffic Engineering, Attn: SW Path Lighting, P.O. Box 2986, Madison, WI 53703.
