Quick Thinking Helps Family Escape Fire Unharmed
Madison, WI 53715
The Madison fire department responded to a bedroom fire that could have been much worse, if not for the closing of the bedroom door and the fast action of the fire suppression crews.
Residents all made it out safely after encountering a fire within a bedroom on a second floor. The resident closed the door and alerted the rest of the family, helping to buy time for them to get out safely.
Upon arrival, crews observed flames from a second floor bedroom window and proceeded inside and initiated a fast attack on the fire, stopping it from spreading from the bedroom to the rest of the apartment as another crew conducted a search to confirm all occupants had made it safely outside.
Estimated $75,000 damage. No firefighters or occupants were injured as a result of the fire.
The fire is under investigation at this time.
The apartment building does not have a sprinkler system installed.
