Narrative:

A security officer dialed 911 Friday evening after hearing “a loud boom” and then seeing smoke rising from a vacant business on S. Park Street. Ladder Co. 6 responded to investigate. They determined the smoke was coming from a large HVAC unit on the roof, but there were no visible flames. Firefighters shut down electrical breakers that supplied the HVAC unit. Engine Co. 1 checked the inside of the building to confirm there was no fire there either. Ladder Co. 6 cooled the motor and surrounding area of the HVAC unit with water. The building owner was notified of the problem and that power to the unit had been shut down.
