Narrative:

On 07/07/21 Shortly after midnight Madison Fire Department crews were dispatched to the 1100 block of Shasta Drive, for a structure fire involving a single family home, and a recreational vehicle.
Neighbors called 911 after noticing an “orange glow” outside their home. Residents of the home were woken up by smoke alarm activation and were able to evacuate the home safely with their dog.
Upon arrival on scene Engine 10 reported heavy fire in the front of the home spreading around the exterior from the garage area and up to the roof line. A RV parked in the driveway was also heavily involved.
Crews quickly deployed attacks lines and began an exterior attack. Crews also used Engine 10’s “Deck Gun” to attack heavy flames near the chimney. During the firefighting efforts a propane tank ruptured, but a quick transition was made to an interior attack and the fires were extinguished.
The Madison Fire Department Fire Investigation Team responded to investigate the fire. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Preliminary damage estimates are over $200,000. Two adults and one family dog were displaced by the fire. The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
