Address:

Narrative:

Engine Co. 10 responded to Northridge Terrace for reports of a fire inside a greenhouse. Firefighters noted two small fires occurring inside the building upon their arrival. The greenhouse was filled with smoke, but Engine 10 was able to put a stop to the fires using their water can and a shovel, and the fire was caught before it could spread any further. There was no one inside the greenhouse at the time of the fire and therefore no injuries.

Firefighters quickly determined the fire was caused by the spontaneous combustion of oily rags. Someone affiliated with the greenhouse stated they were using linseed oil earlier to refinish some wood, and the oily rags were left inside the greenhouse among other supplies. Engine 10 educated the individual about proper disposal of stain- or oil-soaked rags, and he thanked the firefighters for their time.
