Multiple guests at the Rodeway Inn & Suites on Hayes Road reported a power outage Sunday night, which led to the discovery of a fire in the hotel.

Security personnel escorted Engine Co. 8 to the second floor of the hotel, where firefighters encountered gray smoke in hallway. Ladder Co. 8 assisted in finding the source and eventually found smoke coming from two electrical outlets inside one of the guest rooms. Firefighters pulled drywall to uncover a small fire that they were able to extinguish with a water can. The fire did not extend to the next room or to the first floor directly below.

The occupants staying the room where the fire occurred were able to move to a different guest room. No other occupants were displaced from the hotel. The MFD Fire Investigation Team responded to investigate the cause of the fire.
