Narrative:

Multiple 911 callers reported flames and smoke showing from a neighboring house on Arizona Circle. When Engine Co. 10 arrived, neighbors advised they didn’t think anybody was home but that multiple pets were inside the home. Firefighters forced entry and immediately located the fire, which had also spread up the wall and into the soffit and attic space above. Meanwhile, Medic 8 and Engine 8 were assigned search and rescue operations. Firefighters achieved initial knockdown of the fire at 12:51 p.m. and continued to search for fire extension in other areas of the house.

The fire caused significant damage, including smoke damage throughout the home. Although no people were home at the time, the fire claimed the lives of two dogs. Firefighters also rescued two cats; one was in good condition upon being found, and a second was resuscitated by firefighters before being taken to a neighbor’s house for refuge. A third cat, described as a brown tabby named Charlie, remains missing, and it is unknown whether he has escaped the house. Neighbors are asked to be on the lookout.

The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
