Medic 2 and Engine Co. 9 were sent to the intersection of Odana Road and Midvale Boulevard for a car-versus-motorcycle crash. Upon arrival, paramedics found one person lying on the pavement in the intersection approximately 15 feet from his motorcycle, which was fully engulfed in flames. As Medic 2 began patient care, Engine Co. 9 pulled a hose line and knocked down the motorcycle fire within three minutes of their arrival on scene. The driver of the motorcycle was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The incident forced a temporary shutdown of the busy intersection. The intersection reopened at 3:13 p.m.
