Address:
2800 Cimarron Trail
Madison, WI
Narrative:

One person was displaced, and another taken to the hospital, following a cooking fire in a west side apartment.

Ladder Co. 7 and other nearby companies were dispatched to the 2800 block of Cimarron Trail. Upon arrival, occupants advised firefighters they believed the fire was out. As crews approached the apartment by way of the patio door, they found it charged with smoke and in fact there was still a fire on the stovetop. Ladder 7 extinguished the fire and began ventilating the apartment as Engine Co. 7 performed overhaul. One person was seen by paramedics for fire-related injuries and was transported to the hospital.

The Madison Fire Department’s investigation concluded the fire was accidental due to cooking. Occupants reported the stove had not been working properly and was reportedly running burners too high. Extensive smoke and fire damage affected the kitchen area, forcing the temporary displacement of one occupant.
