Narrative:

Engine Co. 4 was called to contain a fuel spill in the parking lot and loading dock of 3313 University Avenue. The leak came from a 50-gallon diesel tank of a trailer. Approximately 20 gallons of fuel had already spilled upon Engine 4’s arrival. The crew used a tank trap to catch the remaining fuel that continued to leak from the tank. An absorbent powder known as Oil Dry was also spread on the ground to absorb the fuel that had already spilled. Engine 4 was able to control the leak by shutting down the generator to the trailer.

The MFD Hazardous Incident Team provided additional Oil Dry to absorb the large spill, and the Team also notified the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources of the incident.
