Narrative:

Five people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries following a crash involving an SUV and a Madison Metro bus. The crash occurred at the intersection of Odana Road and Gammon Road.

Ladder Co. 2 and Medic 7 were initially dispatched to the crash, but three additional ambulances, an engine company, and Command Car 31 were also assigned following reports of multiple injuries and people trapped in the SUV. Upon arrival, responders found the bus pushed up onto the embankment of the southeast corner of the intersection. Meanwhile, a Chevy Tahoe was resting on all four tires behind the bus. It had significant front end damage and airbags had been deployed.

Ladder 2 and Engine 2 assisted three people inside the Tahoe who reported they couldn’t get out. A fourth passenger had exited the vehicle prior to MFD’s arrival. All three passengers and the driver of the SUV were all taken to the hospital. None suffered life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the bus was treated for minor injuries and taken to the hospital. There was one passenger on the bus at the time, and they did not report any injuries.

The Madison Police Department remained on scene to continue its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
