Narrative:

The Madison Fire Department was called to the 5900 block of Meadowood Drive just before 4:00 pm this afternoon. Callers to 911 reported that flames were visible in the bedroom area of the home.
Ladder 7 arrived on scene within minutes and found flames coming out of the window. Smoke was also coming out of the attic area on both ends of the house. A fire attack was started on the outside of the house and then firefighters made their way through heavy smoke to the inside to knock the fire down. A search was conducted to confirm that there were no people inside. A portion of the roof was opened up to ventilate the house. Fire crews remained on scene to handle remaining hot spots from the fire.
Due to heavy damage from the fire five persons were displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross.
Investigators are working to determine how the fire started and there is no estimate of the cost of the damage to the home at this time.
