Narrative:

One person suffered minor injuries after a head-on collision with a tree on the 2300 block of Prairie Road early Saturday morning.

Ladder Company 7, Engine Company 7 and Medic 7 arrived to the scene of the crash at 3:51 a.m. to find two people pinned inside the vehicle, which suffered significant front-end damage. One passenger, a 23-year-old female, let herself out of the car after firefighters removed the driver’s side door. A second passenger was also removed after the passenger-side door was taken off the vehicle.

The crash did cause airbags to deploy, and the impact of the crash sent the female into the back seat. She reports she was not wearing her seatbelt. Paramedics advised the patient she needed to be taken to the emergency room for evaluation and possible stitches for a laceration. The patient refused further care, however, and despite multiple attempts by paramedics to gain permission to bring her to the hospital, she stated she wished to be taken home by police.
