Fire Department

Engine Company 13 was dispatched to a home on Seven Pines Avenue for a contained gas explosion in a fire place. The homeowner reported that the pilot light in the gas fireplace downstairs did not seem right. An explosion occurred when she tried to turn the temperature up. No damage resulted, but the smell of gas seeped into the room. She grabbed the dog and evacuated the home. Engine Company 5 went onto the roof to check the fireplace vents, finding no additional heat or fire. Firefighters confirmed there were no other imminent hazards, and the scene was turned over to MGE.
