Narrative: 

A resident at 306 West Apartments was working on her laptop, which was not plugged in or charging, when there was a loud pop and the battery area began smoking. She called 911, and Engine Company 1 was at her door moments later.

Firefighters took the laptop outside as the crew ventilated the apartment to clear the air of smoke.

Both residents who were home at the time denied any injury or need for medical attention. There was no damage to the apartment beyond debris from the computer.
