Arrival:
Thursday, July 12, 2018 - 11:36am
Address:
2900 block Curry Parkway
Madison, WI
Narrative:

A large branch broke off a tree Thursday, becoming tangled in a power line and eventually catching on fire.

Ladder Company 6 responded to find the smoldering branch, measuring at approximately 12 feet long, still resting on the power line. Firefighters could not apply water to the smoldering branch due to the hazards it would cause, given it was resting on an active electrical power line. After a few minutes, the branch stopped smoldering on its own and eventually fell to the ground.

MGE arrived and notified firefighters that a crew would be coming out to clear the branch and take down several other smaller branches that were likely to meet a similar fate.
