Address:
100 block Craig Avenue
Madison, WI
Narrative:

A fire that originated in the bathroom vent of a west-side home caused an estimated $5000 in damage, but nobody was injured or displaced.

Light white smoke emanated from the roof vents on the rear of a house on the 100 block of Craig Avenue as Engine Company 9 arrived on scene. Firefighters were met with a haze of white smoke as they entered and proceeded to the bathroom, where they discovered a fire in or near the bathroom vent. Some fire spread to the insulation surrounding the fan but did not affect the surrounding wood and housing structure. Damage was contained to the bathroom.

All occupants safely evacuated the home, and nobody was injured. The American Red Cross provided some assistance to the occupant, though alternative housing was not needed.
