Ladder Company 6 responded on the eastbound Beltline highway, near Fish Hatchery Road, after multiple callers reported large flames coming form the back of a pickup truck.

The driver of the pickup truck, his wife, and their dog were able to get out of the truck without injury after pulling over to the side of the highway.

The rear bed of the pickup truck was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived. They had the fire extinguished within 10 minutes.

The driver was unable to say how the fire started. They first noticed smoke and then saw flames in the bed of the truck as they were traveling down the highway. Wooden furniture and furniture pads stored in the bed of the truck were destroyed by the fire, and the truck is considered a total loss.
