Narrative:

A neighbor came to the aid of a Balsam Road resident after grease on her stovetop caught fire Friday night.

The woman said she was cooking noodles on one burner when grease from the pan on the next burner ignited, damaging the hood fan, kitchen cabinets, and kitchen ceiling. The woman called for help, prompting a neighbor to respond from a nearby apartment with a fire extinguisher.

Engine Company 4 verified that the fire was completely extinguished, and Ladder Company 2 assisted with ventilating the apartment. Nobody was injured.

Firefighters advised the occupant that her stove and hood fan will need to be replaced, and the kitchen ceiling will need to be cleaned.
