Fire Department

Firefighters responded to a 20-unit apartment building on Northport Drive to find black smoke coming from a second-floor apartment. Engine Company 10 went directly to the apartment with a water can extinguisher and additional tools, having to force entry because nobody was home. Firefighters located a fire inside a bedroom and put a stop to it with the water can extinguisher. The fire did not extend to walls or ceilings, and damage was contained.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
