Arrival:
Thursday, March 8, 2018 - 11:07pm
Address:
400 block W. Gorham Street
Madison, WI 53703
Narrative:

Firefighters responded to The James apartments in downtown Madison following reports of people trapped in an elevator. Engine Company 1 met with security, who directed them to the problematic elevator.

With the car stuck between floors, firefighters went upstairs to the penthouse to reset the electrical power source. After several attempts, the system would not reset, and power controls on the top of the car were also not working.

Unable to get the elevator running again, firefighters opened the top hatch of the car and ten people were rescued with use of an attic ladder.

Firefighters left the power off, and security officials began making arrangements to have the elevator repaired by proper authorities.
