Fire Department

Engine Company 1 responded to a possible structure fire on the 200 block of N. Pinckney Street for reports of smoke inside the building. Firefighters immediately noticed an odor of burnt food and narrowed it down to a single apartments.

After several knocks on the door were met without an answer, firefighters forced entry. They found one occupant inside, who said he had fallen asleep while cooking food.

Engine 1 ventilated the apartment and surrounding areas and reset the fire alarm.
