Arrival:

Address:
6000 block Landfall Drive
Madison, WI 53715
Narrative:

Firefighters responded to a home on Landfall Drive after it was reported that black smoke was coming from the heat vents.

Medic 2 arrived on scene and met with the occupants, who were waiting outside. They reported to firefighter/paramedics that the black smoke was seen on all levels of their home when the furnace turned on.

Ladder Company 2 arrived next and entered the home to find light smoke inside and low levels of carbon monoxide. There were no signs of fire.

As firefighters ventilated the house to clear the carbon monoxide, the homeowner called a furnace repair service, which confirmed that the control board of the furnace was malfunctioning and caused smoke to fill the house.
