Outdoor Fire Traced To Unattended Ashtray

Narrative:
An ashtray left in close proximity to flammable materials is believed to be the cause of a fire that brought crews to the 5200 block of Trafalger Place Wednesday.
When Engine Company 13 arrived on scene, the homeowner was using a garden hose to try to put out the fire. Firefighters finished the job with their water can extinguisher. Damage was confined to a the base of a tree and a small amount of wood. No one was injured.
Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to confirm the fire hadn’t spread to a nearby garage.
