Arrival:
Tuesday, October 17, 2017 - 1:53am
Address:
3100 block Hermina Street
Madison, WI
Narrative:

A renter on Hermina Street stepped outside to walk the dog and smelled something burning at about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday. He then noticed a part of the front stoop smoldering with small flames visible in the corner. After calling 911, the man grabbed a garden hose and put out the small fire.

Engine Company 3 checked the area where the fire occurred and found one board with heavy charring and a burn area of about 3-4 feet, but there was no other significant damage.

The man said his roommate had come home about 45 minutes prior to this incident but didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary. It’s not known what caused the fire. Neither renter is insured; they intend to coordinate repairs through the building’s owner.
