Fire Department

Engine Company 8 responded to a reported car fire along State Highway 30 near N. Stoughton Road. The four-door sedan was fully involved when firefighters arrived. Using their front bumper line, the crew extinguished the fire before making contact with the driver.

The driver reportedly experienced mechanical issues just prior to the fire—the accelerator not responding well to actions, and the brakes failing to operate. The driver put the car in neutral and pulled the parking brake prior to seeing smoke coming from the air conditioning vents. Fire was seen under the hood shortly thereafter. All occupants were able to exit the vehicle unharmed.

The exact cause of the fire could not be determined.
