Sunday, June 11, 2017 - 10:13am
Arrival:
Sunday, June 11, 2017 - 10:23am
Address:
Squaw Bay, Lake Monona
Madison, WI 53716
Narrative:

Nine people were aboard a boat on Lake Monona when its motor began to smoke. The Madison Fire Department’s Lake Rescue Team was asked to assist at the request of Monona Fire.

Three people hopped aboard another private boat and were taken to Winnequah Park while one person deployed a dry chemical extinguisher into the engine compartment of the disabled boat.

Once the Madison Fire Department Lake Rescue Team located the stranded boat in the northeast corner of Squaw Bay, the remaining six occupants were asked to put on their life jackets and come onto the Lake Rescue boat as they towed the disabled boat back to the Olbrich boat launch.

Dane County Sheriff Patrol completed a boat safety check on the vessel, and the Monona Fire Department shuttled the three boaters from Winnequah to Olbrich to meet up with the rest of their party.
