Narrative:

On Friday, February 3rd, a two car crash involved a live electrical box at a busy intersection.

When firefighter arrived at the intersection of North Butler and E. Washington Avenue, they noticed one of the vehicles had backed over an electrical box which had exposed wires. Crew members also noticed the meter on the box was still on and was live. Engine 1 crew immediately roped off the area nd instructed the driver to stay in the vehicle.

MG&E workers arrived on the scene and confirmed the box held high power and was still live. MG&E called for a line crew to respond while Engine 1 and Madison Police personnel kept the scene safe.

An MG&E line crew cut the power to an underground vault, which was full of water. East Washington Aveune became very icy as a result of the vault water, so a city salt truck was dispatched.

Once it was determined it was safe, Firefighters assisted the driver out of the vehicle.

All street lights at the intersection were out temporarily, as a result of the crash.

No serious injuries to report.
