Fire Department

Someone smelled smoke at The Loft Apartments on N. Frances Street and began to look around to see where it might be coming from. She happened upon a large garbage can that was burning and grabbed an extinguisher to put out the fire. She caught the fire just in time, before it could spread to the structure, walls, or adjacent garbage cans.

A building manager assisted by opening the doors and turning on an air handling unit to remove the smoke.

Ladder Company 1 inspected the area to ensure the fire was out and that surrounding areas weren’t at risk of rekindling. Firefighters also checked the alarm panel to ensure it was up and running properly before turning the scene over to UWPD.
