Fire Department

Two firefighting companies and three ambulances were sent to the intersection of Old Sauk Road at Old Middleton Road following a two-vehicle traffic crash there.
 
One car was broadsided by another that lost control on the ice-covered road. Drivers estimated both vehicles were traveling approximately 30 miles per hour at the time of impact. Air bags deployed, and passengers were belted in their seats. One car struck a power pole, but electrical lines remained intact.
 
Three patients were evaluated by MFD paramedics and transported to area hospitals. Around 6:45 a.m., responders requested the roads be shut down until salt trucks could treat the glare-ice conditions on Old Sauk.
