Fire Department

A passerby reported a trash bin on fire next to a house on the 500 block of East Johnson Street Tuesday evening.

When Engine 1 arrived they located the City garbage bin which contained a sleeping bag that was smoking. Firefighters put it out with water but were unable to locate witnesses to explain how it all started.

There was no damage to the garbage can or to the surrounding property.
