Madison, WI
Narrative:

The Madison Fire Department responded to a duplex in the 800 block of Sky Ridge Drive at 4:18 this morning.  The alarm company called in a fire alarm at this residence and Ladder 2 was dispatched to investigate the cause of the alarm. While enroute, Ladder 2 was advised that a Dane County Sheriff Deputy was on scene reporting a fire in the kitchen.  The call was then upgraded to a full fire response.

Ladder 2 arrived to find heavy smoke conditions in the home and a fire burning in the area of the dishwasher.  Everyone had safely evacuated the house except for the family's cat.

The fire was quickly extinguished and fire crews immediately began ventilating smoke from the house and salvaging contents in the basement.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.  Damage to the home is estimated at $25,000.

One person was taken to an area hospital for a non-life threatening injury.  The family's cat was located later in the morning and appeared to be uninjured.
