Dispatch:
Sunday, June 5, 2016 - 8:57pm
Arrival:
Sunday, June 5, 2016 - 9:04pm
Address:
2900 block Curry Parkway
Madison, WI
Narrative:

When a Madison woman moved into her new Curry Parkway apartment Sunday, the warm welcome she received wasn’t quite what she had in mind.

Just before 9:00 p.m., she turned on her “new” oven for the first time to make some dinner. That’s when something began to smolder.

The Madison Fire Department was dispatched out of concern this was the start of a structure fire. Ladder 6 arrived first and went into the apartment. They found Tupperware lids smoldering inside the broiler drawer.

Firefighters took the burning lids and brought them into the bathtub, cooling them down with water. They also ventilated the apartment as the new occupants surmised the previous tenants had left the lids in the broiler drawer by accident.
