Fire Department

A southwest side resident was about to make doughnuts when a grease fire ignited on the stovetop. When she put the lid on the pot of hot oil, flames rolled out the side of the pot. A neighbor came to her aid and poured baking soda on the pot to extinguish the fire. The resident suffered minor injuries while attempting to put out the fire but did not require ambulance transport. There is smoke damage to the surrounding area of the kitchen.
