To gear up for the Wisconsin Book Festival, two libraries are hosting upcoming events for local authors funded by a grant from Beyond the Page.
 
Read Local! Indie Author Showcase
Saturday, October 3, 9:00 am-4:30 pm - Middleton Public Library
Meet local authors all day long!  Each author has an assigned 15-minute slot to read from his or her book, describe the writing process, share inspiration, answer questions from the audience, etc. After every 3 authors, we’ll have a 15-minute break for book selling and signing and to give authors a chance to meet and chat with audience members.  [more info, including author appearances]
 
Pinney Mini Book Fest     
October 9-11 - Pinney Library
Meet local authors all weekend in a three days of events full of local literary talent.

Friday, October 9, 6-8 pm - OPEN MIC NIGHT!
Authors of all abilities are welcome to participate in the Open Mic Night. Sign up to participate at the beginning of the evening.

Saturday, October 10, 1:00-8:00 pm and Sunday, October 11, 1:00-4:00 pm - AUTHOR READINGS

The Wisconsin Book Festival released its 2015 festival schedule on August 17.  The four-day festival will take place October 22-25, 2015, in and around Madison Public Library’s Central Library in downtown Madison, Wisconsin.
 
This year’s lineup includes:

• 2013 Pulitzer Prize winner for Fiction Adam Johnson for Fortune Smiles
• New York Times Bestselling author of Reading Lolita in Tehran Azar Nafisi for The Republic of Imagination
• Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer David Maraniss for Once In a Great City 
• The New Yorker copy editor Mary Norris for Between You and Me
• Wisconsin’s own master storyteller  Nickolas Butler for Beneath the Bonfire
• Caldecott medalist and beloved children’s book author Kevin Henkes for Waiting
• Acclaimed journalist Evan Thomas for Being Nixon
• Former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich for Saving Capitalism
• National Book Award winner Timothy Egan for The Big Burn
• 2015-16 Wisconsin Poet Laureate Kimberly Blaeser
